Inkjet addressing is a process where the delivery address and postal barcode are printed directly onto your mail piece via a specialized inkjet printer.

	Target Direct has multiple inkjetters so we can run multiple projects simultaneously or run large projects extremely efficiently.
	All inkjetters at Target Direct are equipped with in-line tabbing equipment.
	All our inkjetters are capable of printing at least a 2" high print area. One machine with a 4" head is available.

Target Direct Mailing Services offers a form of digital printing called “variable data printing” (VDP) that makes customized communications achievable and economical.

Variable data printing uses digital technology to vary one or more elements in a printed piece, in the course of a print run. Content is drawn from a computerized database according to “rules” on how the content should be used during printing, for instance, which pieces of text or graphics to use and where they should be placed. As a result, VDP is ideal for taking advantage of the increasingly rewarding field of full color, graphically rich, customized communications.

Tabbing and Stamping

Folded self-Mailers prepared for automation rate mailings must be secured to prevent an open edge from jamming high-speed processing equipment and potentially damaging your mailpiece. At Target Direct, we can seal your pieces with wafer seal tabs. All of our inkjet equipment is equipped with in-line tabbing equipment so we can tab-seal your mailpieces at the same time we address them.

	We can apply one or two tabs, depending on your specific need.
	Tabs are available in a translucent, paper-based product or a transparent plastic tab
	Tabs are available with perforations

Below are the rules for tabbing as published by the USPS. If it doesn't make sense, call us and we'll help you out.

Letter-Size Folded Self-Mailers
Fold (top or bottom) must be parallel to the longest dimension (length) and address of the mailpiece.

	With one tab or wafer seal: folded edge at bottom of mailpiece, tab or wafer seal in middle of top edge of mailpiece.
	Single folded sheet, sealed with one tab or wafer seal, minimum basis weight: 28 pounds (17 by 22 inches by 500 sheets) or 70 pounds (25 by 38 inches by 500 sheets).
	Two or more sheets, sealed with one tab or wafer seal, minimum basis weight: 24 pounds (17 by 22 inches by 500 sheets) or 60 pounds (25 by 38 inches by 500 sheets).
	With two tabs or wafer seals: minimum basis weight 20 pounds (17 by 22 inches by 500 sheets) if folded edge is at top or bottom of the mailpiece. Tabs or wafer seals must be placed within 1 inch of the right and left edges of mailpiece.
	With fold on right (leading) edge: left (trailing) edge secured with at least one tab or a glue line, additional tabs may be required based on trim size and basis weight. Pieces 7 or more inches in length must also be secured at top and bottom edges and be pre-approved by the USPS. Inserting

Target Direct Mailing Services has multiple Philipsburg style swing arm inserters. Each inserter is capable of up to 4 inserts into a letter-size envelope. We do have equipment offering up to 6 inserts if required. In addition, we have a short-run tabletop two-insert folder/inserter for quick turnaround on smaller jobs.

Handwork. Not every project can be assembled by machine. Sometimes, you have to apply a 3 inch gold-foil medallion. Occasionally, it may be necessary for a congruent marketing message to use a square envelope with a 4" flap. What about mailing tubes? Many shops may argue with you about re-designing in order to match their equipment capabilities. We can help you by advising how you can save money and time, however, your job needs to be done the way you need it done. We specialize in handwork. We have several people who do nothing but hand assembly of marketing packages.

Please note that we perform our match mail projects by hand ensuring that personalized inserts are matched to the proper envelopes.
